Cincinnati SPJ named chapter of the year at annual Excellence in Journalism conference

The Greater Cincinnati Pro Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists was recently named as "Small Chapter of the Year" for the second year in a row by the Society of Professional Journalists.

The chapter has been recognized with this same honor three out of the past four years.

SPJ President Lynn Walsh announced the honor during the opening business meeting at the annual Excellence in Journalism conference in Anaheim on September 7. The chapter was also recognized with a "Circle of Excellence" award for its campus relations.

Executive officers from the chapter - President Tom McKee, Treasurer Hagit Limor and Secretary Ginny McCabe were in attendance to accept the honor. Vice President Jenny Wohlfarth was at home in Cincinnati recovering from surgery. However, Cincinnati SPJ's executive team called her from the meeting to share the good news.

The Society of Professional Journalists annually selects professional chapters to honor for their commitment to SPJ’s mission and the profession of journalism.
